'Person of Interest' 3.17 "/ (Root Path)" Review

CBS
Samantha "Root" Groves has had a complex journey on 'Person of Interest'. She began her time on the series as a mysterious antagonist with hacking skills that could rival Harold's own, but along the way her character's significance grew as did her bond with the Machine. Now she's on a holy mission from her God to prevent the rise of Samaritan II--a new supercomputer which would spell doom for many. In "/" (Root Path), the Machine leads Root on a path that forces her to come to terms with the sins of her past.

'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' 1.15 "Yes Men" Review

ABC
At first it might seem as though Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) appearing on 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' is a classic case of a show trying to entice viewers by bringing in special guest stars. If this were a cameo made by someone like Thor or even Heimdall then I would be inclined to agree. Including Sif in "Yes Men" however not only gave us a chance to explore other characters of Asgardian lore as she hunted down Lorelei, it also finally let us see more of Sif as her own person outside of being part of Thor's entourage.

'Hannibal' 2.02 "Sakizuki" Review

NBC
Even though this show has had its fair share of horrific moments, none so far can match anything to do with the human mural. "Sakizuki"’s cold open played out like a mini horror film; there was no way to know how it would end until the gut-punch conclusion. Every moment that the living victim worked to free himself was agony to watch, but there was also a message to be found that could relate to Will Graham’s current predicament. It’s no coincidence that he later envisions himself exactly in the same position as both this victim and later on the mastermind of the mural that takes his place. Freedom is going to cost dearly and while it doesn't seem as though Will will literally lose his pound of flesh to switch the focus to Hannibal as perpetrator, it is clear that he’s going over a cliff and he might not make it out alive.

'Person of Interest' 3.16 "RAM" Review

CBS
Everything starts off like any other episode until the opening theme starts backward and the tape winds backwards--that's right we're going to be dealing with a story from the past this week. When some shows do the flashback to before the beginning stunt it can feel contrived and like an hour of filler. But "RAM" didn't just include past glimpses of known characters it also filled in some very critical blanks reaching all the way back to season one. In 2010, POI Daniel Casey is on the run after getting his hands on some lines of code from a project that could change the face of the world. It's up to Harold Finch and Mr. Dillinger to save him from the various threats trying to eliminate him.

'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' 1.14 "T.A.H.I.T.I." Review

ABC
Apparently we're not quite done yet with the intricacies of the mystery surrounding Coulson's survival/resurrection as 'T.A.H.I.T.I.' raised a few more questions about his secret procedure. In the race against time to save Skye's life the team faces opposition and later assistance from fellow S.H.I.E.L.D agents, Garrett and Triplett, during a dangerous operation to an off the books medical facility.

'Bates Motel' 2.01 "Gone But Not Forgotten" Review

A&E
On a dark and stormy night in White Pine Bay, Oregon beloved local English teacher Blaire Watson was murdered. Her student, Norman Bates, was one of the last people to see her alive and could well even be her killer if he could only remember what happened when he blacked out. That's how season two of A&E's 'Bates Motel' begins as the action picks up exactly where it left off in last year's finale in order to set up less of a mystery and more of a character defining situation for Norman as he struggles to deal with his lack of mental clarity from that fateful night.
