'Revenge' 216 Review "Illumination"

ABC
Last week at the end of the episode, Emily had what seemed like a big risk make its way into town in the form of her foster brother Eli, but is he the threat they made him out to be?
I think not really.  I was worried about it too, but when we got more information in the episode about how he used to protect her as a child well I think a little house being burnt down back in the day hasn’t changed his mind about that.  He’s certainly being set up to be the new Amanda as in he’s someone from her past who can get close to the Graysons for her.  That is if she lets him.  Aidan is probably right that she’d be better off with him far away, but I really think Emily could always use more allies.

ABC
Which probably won’t include Jack if he ever learns the full scope of the truth that he’s picking at.  He’s certainly eager to pick up the blade of revenge and go at the Graysons’ throats using tactics that, if Emily weren’t as biased about him being involved as she is, might make her proud.  He caught on that Nolan was the one who saved him, and I really don’t think he’s going to buy his story that it was Kenny Ryan who obtained the speedboat instead.  Sure he gave Nolan a hug, but he had empty eyes when he did it.

ABC
We were also introduced to a new threat named falc0n, a hacker that can outwit even Nolan’s Carrion project and who helped seal the fate of Emily’s father years ago.  Which makes me wonder why the hell the Initiative wanted Carrion so badly when they seem to have access to someone even better?  Someone who could just as easily do the job for them.  Unless they don’t know about Falc0n and he or she is directly on the Grayson payroll, or they want to set Nolan up as one of the people who fall with the Graysons after they do what they have planned.

ABC
Actually, if the Graysons have it their way Aidan will be the one taking the fall for it.  Daniel seems to have finally pulled himself together thanks to a little pep talk from Emily and is ready to bite the bullet and do as he’s told by the Initiative and frame a fall guy along the way.  The noose around his neck that he talked about seems only metaphorical for now, but what greater message could be sent to Victoria and Conrad if their son was the one that fell hard for repeating their past mistakes.
