'Revenge' 218 Review - "Masquerade"

ABC
It’s Halloween in the Hamptons... in March!
No, it’s not an April fools day joke, due to how the seasons turn in the Hamptons we celebrated Halloween with the Graysons this week and it turned out to be a very poor one for Victoria.  It was pretty amusing to see her lie and tell Conrad she terminated the pregnancy--I even believed it--it was obvious later that she didn’t as she sought out who might be wearing the mysterious twelfth  black rose.  It was a joy to see Emily toy with her through the invitation, the flowers, and her face time with Victoria this episode.  The contempt between them both is so thinly masked now if only Victoria knew just how deep it ran then she might try harder to keep her out of her house.

ABC
Victoria clearly didn’t do a great job keeping Ashley out either, and that may bite her in the ass as Jack extends a hand to her for her help.  I’m not sure if it was the brightest idea for Jack to let so much be known to someone who’s quite the social climber, or if he’s right and she’s back in their graces to earn her own bit of revenge.  It’ll be nice to see Jack have a possible ally who isn’t hiding secrets from him like Team Emily does..

ABC
Of course two people on Team Emily took some emotional blows this week as we find that Aidan was a mere day too late in saving Padma.  If she’s even really dead. Sure, they had the coroner say she died that day but I’m not quite sure.  It seems like a weird way to end the character.  This of course hits Nolan hard. At the beginning of the episode he was shown to be completely devastated and in sore need of a shower.  Apparently when Padma vanished six weeks ago he was questioned by the police and now that she’s been found freshly dead they’re going to be on him again.  How very convenient for the Initiative to have him locked away where he can’t hunt down their precious falc0n.

ABC
It was also a bit convenient for Daniel that the Initiative decides they’re simply going to liquidate their assets with Grayson Global.  Like Padma’s “death” this seems like a weird way for the two to part ways, which means I’m sure that they’re not done.  But it does open a window for Daniel to pursue Emily again, and boy does he ever go aggressively for her.  Sending the photo Victoria used to convince him that the Initiative would hurt Emily to Page Six was quite the fuck you to his mother, but it was also a way to keep Emily from backing out of the relationship as she had been.  Well played Daniel, even though I’m sure Aidan will find a way to punch you for the trouble.
